Have your say on an application for a generation authority for the proposed Boulder Creek Wind Farm project. This authority will allow the applicant to operate the generating plant and to connect it to the transmission network.
The Boulder Creek Wind Farm is located in the Rockhampton Regional Council Region of Queensland. It is approximately 40 km southwest of Rockhampton and 5 km west of Mount Morgan in Central Queensland.
Construction of the Wind Farm officially commenced in November 2024 and infrastructure testing is due to start in October 2027. The applicant, Boulder Creek Wind Farm Pty Ltd as trustee or BCWF Unit Trust, must have a generation authority to operate the plant and connect it to the transmission network.
We are inviting feedback on this application to connect the generating plant to a transmission network. The connection will be via the Powerlink new 275 kilovolt Muranu Substation and has a nameplate rating of 228 megawatts and a maximum of 221 megawatts at the connection point.
Permission Requirements
The operator must apply to the Regulator and be granted a generation authority under section 179 of the Electricity Act 1994, unless the infrastructure is to be located wholly on land the applicant owns or leases.
We must then seek feedback on the application from the public, including people who might be affected by or interest in the project.
Once feedback and other relevant matters have been considered, we will decide whether to issue a generation authority to the applicant to proceed with the proposed electricity generation activity.
Have your Say
We are seeking feedback from the public about the application to assess:
- the suitability of:
- the applicant to hold a generation authority
- the owner (also the applicant) to be the owner
- other matters to be considered under section 180 of the Act.
Read the information paper to learn more about the application.
